I strongly agree with your point "So trust in your God, ask for help and give it all you got." @Danish: about your concern. Well I think when one is going for MS then he/she should go for the kill i-e PhD. Otherwise (thru my experience in industry, both local & MEA) you simply outgrow for the industry unless you start from zero all over. But you can contribute in industry in a way as R&D Engineer, as companies like NSN, Ericsson hire highly qualified students for R&D in cutting-edge technologies like LTE, LTE-Advanced etc. Again the bottom line for you is to stay FOCUS and utilize your abilities in the right directions. If you are capable enough then apply for some fully funded PhD and studentship (that will keep both ends meet). I personally know dozens of my classmates who did that. Problem with most of the guys in Foreign Universities is that they are unable too give-up their PT jobs which they do during their studies to support living. This in turn somehow divert them from their objectives. I am not saying to give up these PT jobs altogether but to focus on the mainstream jobs in the first place and keep doing them until you get a good job. @Mansoor: Brother I agree with your argument in a sense that YES certifications are not going to do goods for you as compared to field experience. BUT they are good when you are unemployed and looking desperately for the job. They are only going to add value to your CV and also develop good understanding of the technologies. GOOD depiction and a pragmatic solution given by Urwah. Keep it up :) Regards, Waqas Ayub Dear Urwah,

Nepotism has shaken our nation to its very foundations. As they say, we have learnt nothing from history. This is not the case with Technology governance, rather story is no different in other departments and sectors. In my opinion I don't believe in the roles of advisors. If at all you have to appoint the Advisors then what is your bureaucracy doing which is supposed to assist you in running the government. To add further now we have so many portfolios like Ministers, Advisors, Federal Ministers of the state and bla bla :@ Well brother, we are living with this bitter reality for decades now. One more thing that I have notice is that, MS/MBA/CCNA/CCIE etc will not add value to your profile like your Field Experience elevate your Resume. I know many Engineers who have Master's degrees but still jobless, while many Professional's who have Field Experience rather then further degrees. Although MBA/MS will boost your Resume in the Education aspects. Once again, Thank you for such a valuable Blog. Dear Urwah,

I agree the key is to remain focus in these hard times. With roll out stopping this year do know that LTE will be coming next year and Q3-Q4 the region will see roll out activities coming back however Pakistan has bigger issues to solve then this one. Also the Managed services business has picked up as its an opportunity seen by the operators to streamline their operations and to decrease opex. Since operations is human intensive area the need for skilled resource on all level will continue to rise during coming few quaters. /Majid Good post Urwah. Doing a Masters degree will not only increase your knowledge but will also open up new horizons; that's only if you know how to work your way through. Good luck with your future Mr. Danish, and well done Urwah! keep up the good work. Well Mr. Danish I guess you are one of those people discussed above who just keeps on crying.
