I think now with the convergence technology, people working on core side are getting more, wat u say guyz ?

Najam on:Wed Feb 24, 2010
I dont agree with above analysis. it looks like the blogger has had a very limited vision or exposure.

Mate, you hit bull's eye. Definately, future is all about IP based communication. While Radio Access portion of future generation networks is almost similar. It will be all about backbone network to carry numerous data rates.

Dear all. Many thanks for your replies. I shall address each one separately. @ BSS guy. Brother, I request you to elaborate your comment. @ M. Ali. Thanks for your reply. @ Iftikhar. I hope you know what your replied=) @ Aziz. I tried highlighting a similar point. From BSS implementation people to everyone need to be rigorous towards IP. Core side is getting more attention now. @ Najam. If you don't agree with the above analysis, present your view. Will you? Lets have a healthy debate. @ Raheel. Work is going on to develop more efficient backhaul networks. See NSN's projects...even their website and ads are cramped with this stuff.

 Great Article.... I loved it.

How did you get the fact that '70% of the jobs will vanish into nothingness'? Quote the source as well please, since I am very much ignorant about this fact.

A very poor approach by the author. I am an RF Optimization Engineer for GSM and CDMA. I have worked on NSN, ZTE and Huawei. What do you think, when we step into CDMA and WCDMA, RF Engineers go out of service? Sorry brother, taking RF Department out of telecomm industry is like, taking soul out a human. In LTE, all will be IP-Based, may be you heard of Wi-Bro, it will be using a technique Flash-OFDM. My question to you is: 1) What will be the medium for transfer of packets? 2) How can you say 70% of jobs will vanish? Sorry to the author, may be you wont like my point, but kindly read what LTE is, WiBro is its simplest example. RF Optimization Engineers will be in much more stronger position when proper launch of LTE. Like you saw when 3GPP was launched, RF Optimization Engineers where picked up at any very high rates. People who want to switch to RF are sensible people as they know Telecommunication is mainly about RF (Like it?) I will wait for a reply by the author. Thank you. Regards, Khalid Mahmood RF Optimization Engineer GSM

@ Khalid. Khalid, many thanks for the reply. One straight reply I have for you is: You misunderstood the post! I can let you be, but here is the reply for you. RF was, is and will be the main focus for telecom engineers. So, first five lines of your reply are answered. Moving on, it was mentioned very clearly that IP is giving new hope to Core engineers. Where is it mentioned that with LTE/3G RF engineers will lose the business? Moreover, the fact about 70% of the jobs vanishing from the surface is not restricted to telecom only. It involves all IT, finance and telecom jobs.

@Iqbal. I will get back to you on this=)

Khalid Mahmood on:Wed Mar 03, 2010
No sir, i still disagree, jobs will remain. You also know how many people are engaged in various CORE departments or RF, so how many can be kicked out more? I have read IEEE papers on LTE, i will try to scan those and share with all of you. Kindly do go through them, may be most of you already know, but i will request that you all do read about it. Thank you. Regards, Khalid Mahmood

@ Khalid. Many thanks for your reply. I feel I need to elaborate my point a little more. Khalid, do you know there is a research- and later implementation- carried out by some organizations in West that we are preparing our children for jobs which don't yet exist? If not, I shall send you the link soon. Vanish DOES NOT mean that older jobs wont 'exist'! Tell me one simple thing; could you assume fifteen years ago that there would be a very highly paid job with a title like 'Head of Web Spam Team' ? It did not 'exist' then, but now it is a whole department in Google and a core one for that matter. I hope I reached to your mind. If not, lets continue the thread for healthier purposes=)

Yes sir i know there is Research, than QC, than implementation. Some departments in Telecommunication industry can never go. Yes we dont know what future will be like.
